The Police kicked off their world tour tonight in Vancouver and I was one of the lucky 20,000 or so to be there. Thanks to John, we got preferred seats (row 10 floor!) and Chari and I went as our spouses just didn’t consider themselves big enough fans – their loss ;). What a show. Of course, it should be for the price:
But hey, by about halfway through the show it didn’t matter. Forget that, two songs into the show and it was worth it. Message In A Bottle to open, closing with Next To You (in the second encore). Here’s what they played:
- Message in a Bottle
- Synchronicity II
- Spirits (In the Material World)
- Voices Inside My Head/When the World is Running Down (Medley)
- Don’t Stand So Close to Me
- Driven to Tears
- Walking on the Moon
- Truth Hits Everybody
- Every Little Thing She Does is Magic
- Wrapped Around Your Finger
- Bed’s Too Big Without You
- Murder By Numbers
- De Do Do Do De Da Da Da
- Invisible Sun
- Walking In Your Footsteps
- Regatta de Blanc/Can’t Stand Losing You (Medley)
- Roxanne
1ST ENCORE
- King of Pain
- So Lonely
- Every Breath You Take
2ND ENCORE
- Next to You
No, guys… Thank You!
Pete,
You forgot to tell everyone about the way cool scrim with the dinosaur skeletons walking around on it in “Walking in Your Footsteps.” That was one of my favourite parts. Oh, yeah – and all the grey-hairs who got to stand on the other side of the barrier in front of the stage. Sting was obviously right when he said “Lock up your mothers.” Thanks for being such an awesome “date.”
Wow… brings back a ton of memories just seeing that set list.
